Usually on a Dry January I would be thinking to myself, "I can't believe it's only 17 days out of 31! That's still 14 more days." January never seemed so long. This time, knowing that drinking is just a thing I don't do anymore, it's been much easier. I'm not wishing January over, though I know it's really helping having exciting plans to look forward to. Things that are more fun than drinking.
I slept last night! I woke up at 3 am which is quite late for me, and then I fell back asleep after only being awake for 10 minutes or so. I didn't need to read, I didn't need to turn over, I didn't need to get a snack, I didn't even need to think to myself "Relax!" It was bliss. Because there is snow in the forecast and loads on the ground, I've told the kids to assume a snow day tomorrow. So I. am. going. to. turn. my. alarm. off. Sleep is my new treat, who needs wine when there is sleep! I forgot what a joy sleep is.
